What is a McQuoid?
A McQuoid is a man who possesses a special spirit forged during a century of firefighting and civic service. He is a man who shares with his fellow McQuoids and ideal - indefinable but very real - of brotherhood and dedication that knows no bounds of time or challenge. He is a man aware of the McQuoid tradition of excellence created by every member since 1873, and confident that it will be sustained by himself and all McQuoids yet to come.

A McQuoid is a man - from every walk of life - who is concerned for the safety and welfare of his community. He is a man willing to commit himself to rigorous training and firefighting activity, even at the risk of health or life, for the protection of his neighbors. He is a man willing to respond instantly, whether at work, at play or at rest, to the summons of the fire alarm.

A McQuoid is a man who accepts as a matter of course the inconvenience of answering a midnight call, the risk of entering a flaming building, the drudgery of cleaning gear and equipment after a long fire, the necessity of drills and practice, and the unending need to keep the public conscious of fire prevention. All these, he accepts without thought of pay or material reward.
